Explore Feed & Midjourney.tv Launch 🚀

Midjourney introduced a new recommendation algorithm for the Explore feed, aiming to help users discover images and videos tailored to their interests. Alongside this, Midjourney.tv—a new background video streaming site—was launched, continuously displaying public Midjourney videos and adapting to various browser window sizes. Users can view prompts by hovering, and future updates will bring personalized TV channels powered by the recommendation engine.

Upcoming Video Mode Enhancements 🎬

Several significant video mode updates are set for release next week. These include a 2,5-second mode at half price for shorter, potentially loopable animations, and a 720p mode offering higher resolution for professional use, initially limited to higher-tier users. A new Turbo mode will enable ~10-second generation times for rapid iteration, available to users on the $60+ tier. Additionally, an "extend from any frame" feature is planned, enhancing creative flexibility.

Model & Version Updates 🧠

Version 7.1 is anticipated within the next month, promising improvements such as a better draft mode, enhanced text understanding, greater coherence, and improved styleref capabilities. Work on Version 8 is underway, featuring a fundamentally new architecture that will boost both image and video quality, with major editing features planned for its release.

Future Development & Community Initiatives 🔮

The team is actively debating the scope of audio and sound effect integration, considering both quick solutions and more comprehensive options including voice. Styleref 2 is in development, and hardware plans have been confirmed (though not for TVs specifically). Midjourney-branded merchandise is on the horizon, and several secret projects are in progress. The team reiterated that no further retextures or edits will be made to V7, as focus shifts to image-related improvements and upcoming storytelling features expected by the end of next month.
